his dataset provides annual mean surface soil moisture information for Nepal and Gyirong County, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, from 2016 to 2024. It was derived from ERA5-Land monthly averaged data provided by the Copernicus Climate Change Service and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. The source variable is Volumetric soil water layer 1 (swvl1). For each year, the twelve monthly mean values were averaged with equal weight, and the resulting raster was clipped to the Nepal-Gyirong study area.

The dataset contains nine single-band GeoTIFF raster files, with one file for each year. Values represent volumetric soil water content in the upper 0-7 cm soil layer and are expressed in m³/m³. The raster data type is Float32, with a NoData value of -9999. The source grid spacing is approximately 0.1° × 0.1°, corresponding to a ground scale of about 9-11 km.
